Ba2a: week 11

Tuesday

Today was definitely an interesting one! Going into today I felt very stressed as I felt there was no chance of me meeting the golden shears deadline, which after months of hard work was heart breaking, I had stayed late at uni a lot and it was beginning to feel useless, after I spoke to sue this morning I did feel a lot better as it was decided that I needed some help, which did help to calm my nerves a bit. Nothing felt like it really went to plan today, I ended up having an allergic reaction to my trouser fabric, which wasn’t fun at all, but these things happen so I just have to get on with it, luckily I was offered a lot of help so that I didn’t have to touch the fabric as much, something I am very grateful for!

Wednesday

I think today might just have been the most stressful day of my life, and one that I hope I never have to repeat.
When the lining of the jacket was finished it ended pulling the back out of shape, something I couldn’t work out as all of the patterns had spent a long time to make and I measured and measured to make sure that everything was correct and then I had them all double checked. Thinking back to it I think I  might have worked out what was wrong, as the back of the outer shell was sitting different in the final version than any of the toiles it was actually longer something I hadn’t allowed for in my patterns.
It might have been a very stressful couple of weeks but I can finally say I did it! I finished both garments, it might of taken me to the very last second but I did it and I am extremely grateful for everyone that helped me make the deadline

Tuesday

Today I began cutting out all of my final patterns in my final fabric. This was such a daunting task as once you make that first cut you can’t go back! It feels like a great achievement to finally say that I have finished cutting out and can begin construction.

Friday

This past week has been very action packed, trying to get ready for the Golden Shears deadline next week. I finished cutting out all of my final fabrics and began construction of my jacket. I love the colours of my fabric they are a really good contrast and really make the piece stand out. I am going to have to pay a bit of attention to the worm at the back as at the moment it isn’t sitting quite right, I will have a play around with this next week to try and fix it. I am getting a bit concerned that I will miss the deadline but I am going to try my absolute hardest and stay late every day until the outfit is made!
